While many of us assume that the Old and New Testaments are clear in their unanimous rejection of homosexual practice, others claim that the Bible is either unclear on the issue, or condemnatory of only some forms of homosexual practice (e.g., rape and pederasty). This talk is a survey of the primary biblical texts which deal with this critical issue. Find out what the Bible really teaches about homosexuality.

What is a Christian Response to AIDS? May 23, 2007

I’ve heard someone say that AIDS is a divine judgment on practicing homosexual men, and therefore, they’re getting what they deserve. In fact, maybe they should all just be quarantined until we rid ourselves of this horrid disease. Is this an appropriate response to such grave human suffering as what is experienced by those dieing of AIDS? How ought followers of Jesus think through and respond to so critical an issue?
I appreciate some suggestions offered by John Stott in his book, Decisive Issues Facing Christians Today, on how Christians should respond to AIDS. He offered a three-fold Christian response: (1) theological; (2) pastoral; (3) educational. (more…)

I don’t know if there’s any other question that comes up as often as this one does. I recently read of a survey that was conducted of the general populace (including both Christians and non-Christians). The survey told of a fascinating shift that has taken place in our culture.

What makes a person morally praiseworthy? May 2, 2007

What determines if a person’s actions are good or bad, and if that person is morally praiseworthy or morally blameworthy? Is it the act itself which establishes the rightness of a situation? Or does it maybe depend on the sincerity of the person who is acting? I’d like to suggest several factors that need to be met before we can say that an action is moral. (more…)
