spiritual-life-conf

This practical and experiential half-day conference will take the next steps of implementing the discipleship paradigm laid out in Emotionally Healthy Spirituality (Nelson, 2006) The Emotionally Healthy Church (Zondervan 2003) into the life of the pastor/leader, and then into the leadership of the local church. We will explore how to build a church culture, beginning with the pastors themselves, where our work for Jesus flows out of our life with Jesus.

Monday, September 14, 2009, 2:30-9:00 PM
Location: Denver Seminary, Littleton, CO
Cost: $25.00 (see Den Sem link for group discount)

Is Jesus the only way? (CSU, 4/28/08 @ 7pm) April 23, 2008

jesus_the_only_way

Is Jesus the Only Way?  We live a pluralistic culture or various faiths and worldviews.  And yet our setting is nothing new for followers of Jesus.  While Christianity was born within the monotheism of a first century, middle-eastern culture, the broader socio-cultural setting was heavily influenced by Greek and Roman paganism.  And the claim that Jesus, rather than Caesar, is Lord has never been well received.

Is Jesus the only way to God or ultimate reality?  Whether you believe the answer is “yes” or “no,” or if you are unsure, you won’t want to miss this talk.  Come hear philosopher and author Dr. Groothuis discuss the controversial question.  A question & answer session will follow.

Dr. Groothuis was my mentor during my studies at Denver Seminary, where he serves as professor of philosophy within the Philosophy of Religion Dept.  I highly encourage you to make it to his talk at CSU.  You’ll be equipped to give an answer for your faith in the historical person of Jesus.

Where: CSU, Engineering Auditorium 100
When: Monday, April 28th, 2008 @ 7pm

Mark you calendars now for an event we’re hosting on Friday, April 18, 2008. Michael Behe, Ph.D., Professor of biochemistry at Lehigh University, will be speaking at 7:00pm in Timberline’s new South Auditorium. Behe is most well-known for his study on the complex biochemical systems which require multiple components in order to function—systems which he has called “irreducibly complex.” You may be familiar with Behe’s advancement of Intelligent Design through his first book 1996, Darwin’s Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution. His latest book is called The Edge of Evolution: The Search for the Limits of Darwinism. As one of the top proponents of Intelligent Design science, Behe will be someone you’ll want to hear—whether you agree with his theory or not. Along with his talk, we’ll offer the opportunity for you to ask him questions as well.
